Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. After moving to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor when she was six. Through the years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing as well as dancing, and also acting. From the age of 10 the actress took part in and played the leading role in numerous Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma by way of her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight straight auditions. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. It was also the film that was most popular in 2001. Opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. The film was praised by critics who praised the film, particularly those who were young. The Daily Telegraph in Britain that is distributed widely the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Emma's performance received nominations and later won awards in the film.
